Congratulations to the following athletes who will represent Canada for the 2017 World University Summer Games to be held in August 17-22, 2017 in Tai Pei.


Men:
Philip Wong (Nan Quan / NanGun combined) - Toronto
Jason Chen-Leung (Chang Quan)- Calgary Jordan Banker (Men Sanda 82 Kg.) - Ottawa

Women:
Megan Tsang (Taiji Quan and Jian combined) - Edmonton
Jeneva Beairsto (Chang Quan) - Vancouver

Wushu in the 2017 World University Summer Games!

  Athlete Eligibility to the 2017 World University Summer Games-

Only the following may participate as a competitor in the World University Wushu Games :
  1. a) Students who are currently officially registered as proceeding towards a degree or diploma at the university or similar institute whose status is recognized by the appropriate national academic authority of their country;
  2. b) Former student of the institutions mentioned in a) who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event.

All competitors must satisfy the following conditions:
  1. a) Be a national of the country they represent
  2. b) Be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age on January 1st in the year of the event (SU2017: participants must be born between 1 January 1989 and 31 December 1999). Exception: Basket-ball—be at least 17 and less than 24 years old on January 1st in the year of the event (SU2017: participants must be born between 1 January, 1993 and 31 December, 1999)
Also-
  1. a) Must be a registered Competitive Athlete Memberof The Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations (WushuCanada)  before April 30, 2017
  2. b) Must be a Canadian Citizen with a valid Canadian Passport
  3. c) The National team selection will be held on May 20,2017 at the Markham Pan Am Sport Centre, details will be posted up in February 2017

Congratulations to Virginia Cai from Calgary, she took a gold medal in Straight Sword for Canada at the 6th World Junior Wushu Championships in the city of Burgas, Bulgaria.

On August 20, 2016 the WushuCanada Sanda Committee had a meeting to discuss the sport of Sanda in Canada. We look forward to the implementation of the Sanda program for youth and adults, for recreation and competition.

Attention Members

  • Please check our new Coaching Certification Policy that is in effect

  • We are welcoming WushuCanada members to send any good Photos or Videos of your school/club‘s activities to cemmacanada@gmail.com attention- Rosalynn Kwok to be selected for display on the website

  • From January 2016, No non- member may compete at the National team selection (4 months prior to the International event) or pay $100 as penalty

  • Competitor’s School /Club has to be a Level 1 or Level 2 Club /School Member, no exemption

  • Coaches /Team Leader representing Canada to attend any International event has to be an Official Member

  • Any Observer to attend any IWUF’s event has to be a General Member 4 months prior to the event or has to pay $100 as a service fee
