2017 International Wushu Festival and National Kung Fu / Sanda Championship Results

Dear all,

On behalf of WushuCanada and host WushuOntario, we sincerely thank you once again on your successful participation at the 2017 International Wushu Festival and National Kung Fu / Sanda Championship.  We humbly thank the dedicated work from our Officiating and Volunteer team that has made this event a great success.  Further, we congratulate all of the participants and coaches on their continuing perseverance towards excellence in sport.

Sanda Results and Medals are to come-We congratulate the sanda participants and their inaugural reintroduction of Sanda to Canada.

Note the Technical error we found on day 1 results due to an error in the formula used for calculations. Final Results are fixed as per WushuCanada/WushuOntario Policy for transparency and accuracy. This directly affected several results and have been noted on record.

Sanda Schedule and Overview

Dear coaches and athletes,

Please see preliminary schedule for Saturdays Sanda Competition.  NOTE:  Finals will take place Sunday after round robin matches if warranted and necessary. 

We welcome you to the official relaunch of Wushu Sanda in Ontario and are honored to have you commemorate this event with your participation.  During this event we are hoping you the best experience in attaining insight into Sanda competition and look forward to you continuing this journey of learning and development. This event will play a large role in the qualification for the 2018 Ontario Games in addition to the National Team selection process.

As the first officially sanctioned Sanda competition in Ontario since 2009, you taking part in an historical event towards the growth of the sport.  Please arrive early for sport safety discussions and medical checks.  Be sure to bring the hardcopy of your medical health certificate.  Best of luck and have fun.

Remember to bring, Mouthguard, Cup protector, Hand wraps and appropriate uniform.   Recognized Head Gear, Gloves, Chest and Shins will be provided.  All safety equipment is MANDATORY to be worn for this event.

Wushu in the 2017 World University Summer Games!

  Athlete Eligibility to the 2017 World University Summer Games-

Only the following may participate as a competitor in the World University Wushu Games :
  1. a) Students who are currently officially registered as proceeding towards a degree or diploma at the university or similar institute whose status is recognized by the appropriate national academic authority of their country;
  2. b) Former student of the institutions mentioned in a) who have obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event.

All competitors must satisfy the following conditions:
  1. a) Be a national of the country they represent
  2. b) Be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age on January 1st in the year of the event (SU2017: participants must be born between 1 January 1989 and 31 December 1999). Exception: Basket-ball—be at least 17 and less than 24 years old on January 1st in the year of the event (SU2017: participants must be born between 1 January, 1993 and 31 December, 1999)
  1. a) Must be a registered Competitive Athlete Memberof The Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations (WushuCanada)  before April 30, 2017
  2. b) Must be a Canadian Citizen with a valid Canadian Passport
  3. c) The National team selection will be held on May 20,2017 at the Markham Pan Am Sport Centre, details will be posted up in February 2017
